Concert Review: LCD Soundsystem - (Randall’s Island 10/6)

James Murphy and company came out swinging and did not let up until nearly a hour later. LCD Soundsystem played an energetic set accompanied by the likes of a disco ball and flashing multi-colored lights. The crowd responded with energy and dance - not one person on all of Randall’s Island didn’t appear to be moving along to the music in some form.

Coming out to “Get Innocuous” other highlights included “Us vs. Them” and “North American Scum”. Several members of Arcade Fire even accompanied LCD throughout the set, however, it was certainly more than a specular than any remix or chnage in music. Nevertheless, Murphy’s homecoming to New York appeared to provide a boost in energy that allowed for an overall spectacular show.

Perhaps the most comical moment of the day was provided by Murphy as well. He couldn’t contain his laughter during the band’s final song of the night “New York I Love You”. Apologizing multiple times for his lack of seriousness, all the crowd could do was respond with further laughs.

By the end of the night, I walked away feeling as LCD Soundsystem had stole the night, and their performance easily was worth the price of admission.
