Album Review: Time for Heroes - The Best of The Libertines
While we’re on the subject of Pete Doherty, I figured I might as well remind people that The Libertines are out with their greatest hits album Time for Heroes - The Best of The Libertines. The album was released in the U.K. last week and will hit U.S. stores on December 4 - just in time for Christmas.

Time For Heroes is exactly what you would imagine it to be. A compilation of all of The Libertines’ greatest songs on one compact, 13 song album. What is does exhibit, however, is the immense talents of the British band that ended oh too soon. The lyrics are remarkable, the musicianship easy on the ears. The talents that earned them acclaim from nearly every music publication are so clearly evident in every song.
But perhaps the best attribute of Time For Heroes is it’s ability to remind us of one of the best bands to come along in a very long time. Sure, they probably will never be considered musical icons, maybe except for Doherty, whose drug chronicles could ensure him that status, but they had unbelievable musical qualities. In some cases, one could argue that The Libertines were above most others in talent. Though they probably aren’t hero-like (though the album title says differently), The Libertines sure as hell introduced the world to some pretty awesome music. And the fact that Time For Heroes allows us to experience this is what allows it to shine.
