Listen: Phil Ayoub
Phil Ayoub is one of those new kids on the block in today’s ever popular alt-country, pop-rock genre. Resembling a sound that is reminiscent of Pete Yorn and a perky Ryan Adams with a hint of Springsteen, Ayoub has received much acclaim since beginning his musical career just a few short years ago.

Music blogs have voted him one of indie’s best new artists. He’s been featured in Pollstar and Noise Magazine. Yet Ayoub’s early music career has been far from ordinary. He describes himself as a musican with an MBA, who left a high-paying job to pursue a music career. After recording a series of demos, he unexpectedly came into contact with John Myer keyboardist and music producer Tim Bradshaw, who was at the time looking for new, talented musicians. The two formed a songwriting partnership and under the guidance of Bradshaw, Ayoub released his debut LP Schoolbus Window Paper Heart in 2005.
For someone who was still somewhat new to the music industry, Ayoub debut album exemplified an artist with substantial talent and even greater potential. Tracks like “White Feather” and “Lying and Stealing” could easily be hit’s in today’s mainstream music market. They are catchy and passionate with lyrics that that most people can identify with. Other tracks like “Scenes From An American Highway Rest Stop”, the albums’ highlight, and “4th District Court Of Bristol County” exhibit Ayoub’s ability to create tunes that are more unique and diverse and exemplify exceptional lyrical quality. Particularly in “Scenes From…,” Ayoub is able to combine the sounds and lyrical qualities of Springsteen and Dylan with his own to create a beautiful tune full of imagery and emotion.
Ayoub has an exceptional ability to cater to all multiple tastes. While most of his songs exhibit similar themes detailing the happiness and struggles found in both love and life, each song is distinct in it’s own right. Whether a fan of mainstream or indie, country or rock, nearly everyone should be able to find at least an appealing song in Ayoub’s collection of music.
