2007’s Top 50 Albums: #41 - New Wave

#41 - Against Me! - New Wave

Against Me!’s New Wave was definitely one of the major surprises of the year. Not only was the album’s biggest success to date, but it also exhibited Against Me!’s growing mature sound and exceptional song writing ability. I think Ben Lee described it best as a “heavy and gnarl…pop masterpiece”. Maybe that’s why he covered it? New Wave is probably still more punk rock than pop, but it’s an album that exhibits all the qualities you look for in any album. And personally, as someone who never had previously been to fond of Against Me!, this album really, really sold me.
