2007’s Top 50 Albums: #39 - Cease to Begin
#39 - Band of Horses - Cease to Begin

Band of Horses’ second full length album Cease to Begin is a solid example of a band living up to the hype and acclaim of a very successful debut album. Cease to Begin exemplifies both the band’s beautiful southern rock sound and it’s growing attempt at diversity. The album features a more full alt-country, folk sound than 2006’s Everything All the Time. It’s also one of those albums that puts greater emphasis on the multiple components and sounds of each song. Rather than having a radio hit or a bunch of unique, single songs, Band of Horses created an album in which all 10 tracks exemplify a full, lavish sound that flow beautifully with one another. Highlights include the alt-country “Marry Song” and the oddly titled “Detlef Schrempf”.

Agreed, although I might put Cease To Begin in the top 20.
How did you get the “Fave this blog Technorati”
This not only should be in the Top 20…it should be #1. People need to go see them live and they’ll see.
