Carbon/Silicon plays Highline Ballroom (12/5)
Mick Jones (former of The Clash) and Tony James (formerly of Generation X) along with of Carbon/Silicon played the Highline Ballroom in New York City last night.
The band played a set featuring songs off their new album The Last Post as well as material released over the last couple years free on their website.
Though the show was very solid as a whole and exemplified the unbelievable talents and musicianships of both Jones and James, the biggest highlights included the band’s performances of “The News”, “Caesars Palace”, and “The Magic Suitcase”.
Personally, this show was my first chance to ever see Mick Jones live. And I feel quite fortunate. The Clash have been one of my biggest influences, and to see a man who played such a prominent part in the group up close and personal…well it was very special. Plus, I have never seen someone have as much fun on stage as Jones did tonight.Give them a shot if you haven’t heard them. They’re definitely worth the time.
I agree. I hadn’t seen Mick since the Clash first toured NYC with Sandanista. I went because I’d seen The Future is Unwritten, and that reminded me to check into what Mick is up to. I loved the comraderie between Tony and Mick, and the fact that at my age they are still up there making new music. Although I would have loved to hear them cover a Clash song just because it would have been fun, it probably would have cheapened the experience. I hope that they felt enough appreciation from the audience; I thought the audience was a bit sluggish.

whydomenfight also amazing. excellent musicianship and very solid song selection. however i would have like to hear soylent green
and the song that references the book snowcrash.
audience was a bit sluggisgh, yes, prob due to all the new material, but i love the clash and didn’t miss any of the old stuff. it was that good!
can’t wait to see them next year……….
