Indie 103.1FM has released a video featuring a live performance of Vampire Weekend performing their song “I Stand Corrected”.

And for once, Pitchfork offers a nice little opinion that I somewhat agree with…

Vampire Weekend are from the Upper West Side, of course, not northern England, but Ezra Koenig’s crisply enunciated, vibrato-touched vocal on “I Stand Corrected”, from their forthcoming self-titled album, still makes me think of no one so much as Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner– another beneficiary/victim of excitable reviewers, but also a vastly more distinctive lyricist. Performing live in studio for Los Angeles-based Indie 103.1 FM’s “Feel My Heat”, the rest of Vampire Weekend accompanies Koenig here with high-sustain keyboard, skinny acoustic-guitar chords, and some tropical percussion. “Forget the protocol, I’ll take your hand right in mine,” Koenig concludes, on a song that the band says is “about being wrong”, but which seems equally about coming up with new ways of being right. I’m still not convinced Vampire Weekend have come up with anything as new or interesting as some of my colleagues might say, but here they sound like the best pretty-good New York band I’ve heard all morning.

The band’s release of their debut album is just a mere two months away…
