2007’s Top 50 Albums: #18 - The Good, the Bad & the Queen
#18 - The Good, the Bad & the Queen

Many seem to be forgetting that The Good, the Bad & the Queen did indeed come out in 2007, January 22 to be exact, which is a shame as it is one of the best debut albums in recent history. While I suppose we shouldn’t be all too surprised since it comes from a (unnamed) group composed of members from Blur, The Clash, and The Verve, the album is probably much darker in sound and lyrically cynical than anyone expected. But it is this disconsolate message that makes it so unique. After all, the group somehow created an album that though dark and doomful, is melodic and catchy, and an enjoyable listen. Music really hasn’t seen anything like this in quite some time. Among highlights is the particularly gloomy “Kingdom of Doom” and the Blur-esque “Herculean”.
