2007’s Top 50 Albums: #13 - Favourite Worst Nightmare
#13 - Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare

Just two short years ago, the music world was introduced to the Arctic Monkeys and their critically acclaimed debut album. 13 months later, the young Englishmen released their follow up Favourite Worst Nightmare. The album marks the ever maturing styles and sounds of frontman Alex Turner and company. Sure, the catchy as hell drum beats and the Strokes meets Libertines-esque sound are still prevelant, but the album is darker, faster, and much heavier than it’s predecessor. What more, the at times timid vocals of Turner on Whatever are now stronger and passionate. Life stories are conveyed, Turner’s personal desires revealed. Since day one, the Arctic Monkeys have done nothing but improve in all areas of their musicianship and it will certainly be fun to watch and see what happens next.
