Sufjan Stevens celebrates Christmas…
So how does Sufjan Stevens celebrate Christmas? Well at least this year, Stevens, while taking a break from the whole BQE extravaganza, held a Christmas song contest.
Here’s how it works: write an original Christmas song, record it, and email the song to us. Asthmatic Kitty will pick a winner, and that person will trade rights to their song for rights to Sufjan’s [new Christmas] song.
Today, the winning song chosen from over 600 entries was announced and released to the public. The song by Alec Duffy is entitled “Every Day is Christmas”. Regarding the winning song, Stevens wrote:
Alec Duffy’s unfettered song “Every Day Is Christmas” summarizes this simple phenomenon with the most effortless of words and melodies, somehow making perfect sense out of a senseless holiday. Thanks, Alec, for this great gift. And Happy Christmas to you and yours!”
Categorical winners were also announced. I wonder how long it will take until that exclusive Steven’s song hits the web…
