Early SXSW info revealed
The 22nd annual South By Southwest Music Conference and Film Festival is less than four months away. Over the last week or so, several festival related news items have been posted on the festival’s website.
Perhaps the biggest piece of news is that former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed will be the keynote speaker of next year’s festival/conference.
Reed’s keynote will be held in conjunction with a screening of Julian Schnabel’s film “Lou Reed’s ‘Berlin,’” which documents a recent performance of the landmark 1973 album.
Also scheduled to speak during the four-day music portion of the conference are Thurston Moore, Daryl Hall, and Seymour Stein, the president of Sire Records.
On the performance side, TECH N9NE and Mala Rodriguez are the first two confirmed artists for SXSW.
