R.E.M., My Morning Jacket, others to play SXSW
South by Southwest has announced (via an official mailing) a few more bands who will be appearing at music portion of the 2008 festival.
Among note are scheduled performances by R.E.M., The Vines, and My Morning Jacket.
R.E.M. are perhaps the biggest surprise so far, since they only recently announced the imminent arrival of their latest full-length, Accelerate, which drops on April 1. As the title suggests (and live shows have revealed), it’s going to be a fast-paced ride. The album is the band’s 14th studio effort and follow up to 2004’s Around the Sun.
Vampie Weekend, Black Keys, Jens Lekman, Panda, and My Brightest Diamond are all also scheduled to make an appearance during the March showcase.
