Ryan Adams has plans for 2008

Ryan Adams is probably the hardest musician to cover. You never know what he’s going to do next. For instance, Adams plans to release a heavy metal album in 2008. Well, not really.

The North Carolina native is currently on a west coast tour with the Cardinals, who also will again accompany him on his next album.

as far as I know, The Cardinals will be working on our new record in Paris, France just as soon as our west coast tour wraps.

It will be, as of right now, called THE CARDINALS III/IV.
it will contain songs by the Cardinals BUT I will be happy to reveal the vocal duties of songs, and the balance, will be between Neal [Casal] and myself on this new record. That may be a long player, i dunno. As it stands III/ IV (alpha/omega) will reflect the Cardinals you hear live, during those two set nights. Only there will be songs of Neals now and some of mine.

Adams plans on recording a solo album with “beats more rooted in soul and dance hall and real soul style” as well. On top of that, he apparently will make an appearance on the Cowboy Junkies’ the 20th anniversary edition of The Trinity Session. And what about that box set?

In the end, I’m sure he’ll probably just end up throwing some sort of curve ball and decide to retire only to return three months to be known only as DJ Reggie.
