Listen: The Terrordactyls

The Terrordactyls are a two man musical duo who sure seem to find the joy in music. Eerily reminiscent of The Moldy Peaches, Michael Cadiz and Tyrel Stendahl create fun, simple music by using everything from rough sounding, out of tune guitars acoustic guitars to kazoos. While passionate and emotional, nothing is too complicated or over the top. And sometimes, that’s the most enjoyable type of music.

Kimya Dawson, who is popping up quite a bit lately, appears as a guest vocalist on the song “Devices,”off the band’s debut album. While the tune essentially sounds like a long, lost Peaches song that was recorded with a higher-pitched Adam Green, don’t be mistaken. The Terrordactyls are just as unique as their quirky kazoo mixed with toy piano sound. Combined with their simple musical melodies and story-telling lyrics, they exemplify how fun can be found in music. And for that reason alone, they are certainly worth checking out.

The Terrordactyls released their debut s/t album free online. They are currently touring all over the U.S., which includes a scheduled stint at SXSW.
