Coachella announcement update

By Alex Young on January 18th, 2008 in News

Last night, we posted links from two different Spanish media outlets that announced the initial Coachella 2008 lineup would be announced sometime on Monday (probably at night) from a private press event in Mexico City.

I was originally skeptical about the whole thing, but other developments of today seem to make the story a little more credible. To begin with, Los Angeles’ KROQ-FM will reportedly announce and discuss the initial Coachella lineup during “Kevin and Bean,” the station’s morning show, on Tuesday. This likely means that the official lineup won’t be announced to the general public until Tuesday.

In other words, the announcement in Mexico will be for press only. If info leaks, then it leaks. But GoldenVoice and “Kevin and Bean” probably believe that few, if any, will know the lineup by the time Tuesday morning comes around. So like all festivals these days, a majority of fans will receive those long awaited details from the radio.

At this point, it’s tough to tell. But what I can say is that by this time Tuesday night, we will have a pretty good sense as to who will be in Indio, California between April 25-27.

In the meantime, keep tabs on all the latest rumors at our Summer Festival Outlook.
