2008 Summer Festival Outlook (Bonnaroo Edition)
With a Bonnaroo announcement coming as soon as Tuesday, I figured we should take sometime
to look at some of the latest rumors…
Radio Bonnaroo started giving some hints toying with people’s minds earlier today by revealing “10 clues” which supposedly relate to this year’s lineup.
Clue #1: “For all you lineup lookers….here is a clue: There is more than one Manchester.”
Clue #2: “Memphis is not Albany”
Clue #3: “Clouds taste this way”
Clue #4: “Some Herrings are red, Jimmy”
Clue #5: “Hard Substance, Soft Substance”
Clue #6: “Janis Joplin’s reserves will be preserved in 2008″
Clue #7: “Rumors are just rumors, but twist them sideways, grow your humor hair and they become a more yen reality. No, this is not about Fleewood Mac.”
Clue #8: “It’s not sour, what is sowed in the earth”
Clue somewhere in there: “Three certain birds, add one”
Clue #9: “Look to the center of Europe to get the sound, but the band comes form all around.”
Clue #10: “Here is another clue for you message board people. Open up the church and you will see the steeple. Some of your guesses have been way off but correct for the wrong clues. Now I must cough.”

Let the interpretations begin…
Many of the Inforoo guys and gals seem to agree that Pearl Jam (#5) and Metallica (#3) are two of the most obvious answers. Pearl Jam appears especially likely since the band will apparently have a major announcement on Tuesday…
Names like the Black Crowes, Beastie Boys, and M.I.A. have been other common answers. And wait, what? Grateful Dead?
Members of the Grateful Dead will host a get out the vote concert in support of Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday, February 4th at The Warfield Theatre in San Francisco.
Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, and Bob Weir, joined by Jackie Greene, John Molo, and Steve Molitz, will play a show together in support of Barack Obama.
Seems unlikely, but than again so does Led Zeppelin. But as Radio Roo says, “rumors are just rumors, but twist them sideways, grow your humor hair and they become a more yen reality.”
Maybe that press conference didn’t mean actually what we thought it did…
What we do know: BB King, Ghostland Observatory, Jose Gonzalez, The Lee Boys, Pat Green, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and Willie Nelson will all be at the Roo.
Keep checking our Summer Festival Outlook for the latest confirmations and rumors.

Yeah.. Janis Joplin’s preservers = Pearl Jam.
Janis’ nickname was pearl
I think that the Jimmy Herring thing refers to the guitar player, Jimmy Herring, currently of Widespread Panic.
do you guys know what a red herring is? It’s a diversion…like plant and krauss (jimmy page?)
Ah yes…Mrs. Featherbottom lurked around Inforoo for awhile. He had a negative rating cause he was always kind of a jackass. He wasn’t an idiot or mouthbreather. Just someone who felt providing contention was more important than providing information…
6. Pearl Jam
Janis Joplin’s last album after she died is entitled Pearl. Preserves are, of course, Jam
Clue 11 (Feb 4th Monday at 12:20)
“Message board chatter? Yes it does matter. We hear your song requests. So Listen High Listen Low Dont Look Too Hard This Is New Radio Bonnaroo”
Clue 12
“Charlie’s imaginary band will not be playing and don’t believe what he wrote on his hand and the last few things he was not saying.”
MrsFeatherbottom - have you you seem the “official” forum on bonnaroo.com? Its the definition of speculative.
As for the Clues, #1 makes me immediately think of manchester orchestra, but I feel like thats both to obvious and that that band is to small to be getting a “clue”.
Bonnaroo.com also has an OFFICIAL forum. Infroo is uninformed and speculative at best!
Clue #2: “Memphis is not Albany”
Actually, I think that this one was “Memphis Isn’t Albany” which leads to an assumption of MIA.
Thanks for the link from inforoo!
