Update: Led Zeppelin won’t be at Bonnaroo

It looks like the Led Zeppelin at Bonnaroo rumor has now been officially squashed…

Several media outlets — including the Associated Press, Britain’s NME and the Sun-Times — reported early this morning some very exciting news: that Led Zeppelin was finally booked for a stateside gig at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

Problem is — it’s not happening.

More including how the Bonnaroo press release was confusion on Jim DeRogatis’s Sun-Times blog.

Well that should put an end to the speculation. Or does it? Who knows…

I have to say I’m a tad bit disappointed…

  1. This is what NME had on their site earlier yesterday, I posted it here before the announcement. so this was definitely a plot for advertising:

NME.COM will reveal a surprise headliner for the 2008 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival at midnight EST.

The festival will take place June 12-15 in Manchester, Tennessee.

Stay tuned to NME.COM for all the details on Bonnaroo’s special headliner and the complete line-up to date for this year’s festival.

  2. Yeah, this is a blunt hit to a line up that’s impressive, but more or less a rehash of previous fests.
