Who are LeZ Zeppelin?
The band known as Lez Zeppelin have been indirectly causing a bit of chaos lately. Perhaps it would be best to learn more about them?
The inclusion of LeZ Zeppelin (note the ‘Z’) in the lineup for Bonnaroo Festival caused mass confusion as journalists scrambled to beat each other to break the story…
A spokesperson for the festival said: “We thought it would be a good idea (to have Lez Zeppelin play). We’ve had to make a lot of calls to correct this. It seems a lot of people were caught out by the pressannouncement.”
So who are Lez Zeppelin? They are a New York based, all female, Led Zeppelin tribute band. Last year, the group has released their debut s/t album, composed entirely of covers.
LEZ ZEPPELIN stays true to the musically audacious spirit of the original, delivering the legendary rock band’s blistering arrangements and monstrous sound note-for-note at sold-out shows across the country. The thing that sets them apart, however, is the seamless and unique way LEZ ZEPPELIN inject their gender-bending performance into the original material.

The ladies are apparently embracing the Bonnaroo confusion with open arms…
After rumors following Led Zeppelin’s reunion performance at London’s O2 arena stated that Led would headline the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Bonnaroo promoters have finally confirmed that the 2008 Festival will, indeed feature an historic performance by Zeppelin – LEZ, that is!

I think Lez Zeppelin are the best Zep tribute act out there, and hope this media mistake brings them the greater acclaim and attention they deserve. Steph Paynes rawks!
