Jenny Lewis still flying solo
While I’m not one of them, many fans are still complaining about last year’s release from Rilo Kiley, Under the Blacklight. (How could you not appreciate songs like “Dreamworld”?) Some even went so far as to compare the album to Jenny Lewis’ previous solo effort, Rabbit Fur Coat. For those still whining, start smiling some.
According to a report from EW.com’s Hollywood Insider blog, she has been working with beau/tourmate Johnathan Rice, Blacklight co-producer Jason Lader, and “Farmer Dave” Scher of Beachwood Sparks/Tyde. What’s more, M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel, and the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson apparently “dropped by” to contribute some guest vocals. And to top it all off, Lewis recorded a duet with Elvis Costello!
To be honest, Lewis could come out on stage reading chapters of Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” for seven hours and I’d still be happy. I don’t think I’m the only one with an unrealistic crush for her; however, I do love me some Rilo Kiley, so let’s hope this isn’t an indication that she’s bored from that.
