Additional APW details surface
This week’s announcement of All Point West’s inaugural lineup brought as much confusion as excitement. Are there more additions on the way? What about set times? Today, we got some answers from Goldenvoice organizer Paul Tollett.

Although Goldenvoice is the company behind Coachella, Tollett stresses that APW is not Coachella East. For starters, it’s a lot smaller. Tollett estimates that the festival’s capacity will be “about half” of that of American behemoths like Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza, meaning that they will cap attendance at around 30 or 40 thousand people.
There will only be three stages and about 40 bands, as opposed to the 100+ that swarm Coachella. This will allow bands to play longer sets than usual…
I still find it hard to believe that only 42 bands will be there. I assume APW will make a few additions just for the sake of justifying the ticket prices. Tollett did confirmed however, that My Bloody Valentine will not at APW.
The biggest thing I took from the article is that APW is not aiming to be as major a festival as Coachella or Bonnaroo, which is certainly surprising. With only 30,000-40,000 prospective attendees, I see no reason why Vineland couldn’t have taken place. But then again, I keep forgetting about Baltimore’s Virgin Festival, which also take place between August 9-10.
