Jamie Lidell, Tim Fite have new songs
Jamie Lidell and Tim Fite are probably two of the strangest men in the music industry. But they are
also two of the most talented. Perhaps fittingly, both gave the internet a taste of some new music today.
Liddell, whose new album Jim is set for release on April 29, has given us a preview of one of the album’s tracks, “Figured Me Out.”

Keyboards and Prince-like guitars hang suspended over a limber bass line and fluid, improvisatory-feeling drumming, with synths whooshing in occasionally from all sides. “Ple-heaze,” Lidell shouts several times at an anguished pitch still a bit below falsetto, “If I’m easy to read/ Won’t you tell me what I need.” Then he settles into a smooth chorus about being hypnotized and how love with you makes him a “loser winning,” which leads right into a cymbal-crash climax.
Lidell has also released a video for “Little Bit of Feel Good,” another track off of Jim.
Mr. Fite also has a new album in the coming months. Entitled Fair Ain’t Fair, the Brooklyn native’s fifth LP will be released on May 6 via ANTI-.
Check out “Big Mistake,” presumably the first single off the upcoming album below…
