Soundtracks, soundtracks, soundtracks!
Last week, we learned that a few indie favorites would be penning scores for various upcoming
movies. In perhaps an attempt not to be outdone (we can only imagine), it was announced this week that several prominent musicians and bands will be included in a few upcoming movie and television soundtracks. And we’re not talking about old stuff either…
LCD Soundsystem, MGMT, and the now no longer existant UNKLE are just a few of the bands who will be featured in the soundtrack for the upcoming Kevin Spacey film 21. James Murphy and the rest of LCD Soundsystem have even created a new, all instrumental song for the soundtrack, entitled, “Big Ideas.”
According to Pitchfork, the soundtrack will be officially premiered at SXSW and released worldwide March 18 via Columbia Records.
In related news, the soundtrack for the television series Heroes features even bigger names. Included? Dylan, Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie, and My Morning Jacket. The Chemical Brothers (w/ Spank Rock) also make an appearance, while Jesus and Mary Chain add “All Things Must Pass,” their first new studio recording in a decade.
Want to know the best part? It’s available today via NBC Records. (NBC has a record company? Who would have known…)
I guess this post may have answered Mike’s question…
