Vampire Weekend have plans for this month

Vampire Weekend seem to have more plans for this month of March than most bands do for an entire year.

The New York natives recently gave fans a summary of the current goings on via their Myspace:

WE’LL BE ON SNL ON 3/8!
WE’LL MAKE UP THE GIGS IN ORLANDO AND ST. AUGUSTINE IN JUNE (THE WALKMEN WILL STILL PLAY ON ORIGINAL DATES).
WE’LL PICK UP THE TOUR IN ATLANTA.
I GOT HIT BY A CAR.
TOM PETTY IS AWESOME.

Yes, that’s right. As mentioned earlier today, Vampire Weekend will serve as the musical guests on next week’s edition of Saturday Night Live. However, as a result of the appearance, the band has canceled their scheduled set at next weekend’s Langerado Music Festival.

No word on a replacement.  This cancelation comes just a week after it was revealed Robert Randolph would not be at Langerado.

As for the recent car accident involving drummer Chris Thompson?

Also, many of you may have read that I was involved in a hit and run accident last night in London. It’s surreal that that currently qualifies as a “news” item, but I would sincerely like to thank everyone who lent me their support and good vibes. I feel incredibly lucky to have sustained only minor injuries, and would also like to thank the Royal London Hospital (Dr. Lewinsohn!) for taking care of me. I’m currently recuperating with a steady diet of Nando’s chicken and Tom Petty, who, appropriately, pointed out that even walls fall down.

Add this with the “false fire alarm show” and it certainly was a rather eventful European tour. Thankfully it appears all is now well with Vampire Weekend.
