Lagerado 2008: Day 1+2 Recap
The first two days of this year’s Langerado Music Festival has now come and gone. For all those who couldn’t be in lovely Florida this weekend, how about a quick recap?
The Beastie Boys headlined Saturday night’s festivities…
The New York trio, joined by DJ Mixmaster Mike and keyboardist Money Mark, got off to a balky start, with the P.A. clipping at first, before they locked down and played to the occasion. The 90-minute set was a mash-up of hits, b-sides and - because Langerado made its name as a jam-band festival - some longform, funky suites. Money Mark doodled like Lalo Schifrin circa ‘75 on electric piano, and later there was a spacey instrumental anchored by what sounded like the low vibration of a didgeridoo.
The Wailers also performed with Aston Famz Jr. Barrett on Saturday…
As for Thursday night? Ohmpark reviewed the performances of Les Claypool, Dead Confederate, and Dark Star Orchestra.

Best Sat band by far was the Disco Biscuits, but REM, despite the cold weather and weather battle tested crowd, still did an excellent show.
Beasties were unbelievable Friday night. Saturday night belonged to Thievery and the Disco Biscuits.
The Beastie Boys didn’t headlined Saturday night, I saw them yesterday (saturday) in Mexico City, guess they headlined Friday night…
