Coldplay reveal album details
Coldplay’s Chris Martin recently shed some light on their highly anticipated, upcoming album,
which according to the frontman, is due out June 17. The band’s fourth LP will be entitled Viva La Vida and as we mentioned last month, will feature a rougher and darker sound.
Singer Chris Martin chose [the title] after seeing the phrase, which means “long live life,” on a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who endured polio, a broken spine, and chronic pain for decades. “She went through a lot of shit, of course, and then she started a big painting in her house that said ‘Viva la Vida,’” says Martin. “I just loved the boldness of it.”
According to Coldplaying.com, a song called “42″ will be the album’s first single. Pitchfork has a list of several other possible songs that may be included.
Coldplay are currently confirmed for several festival stints, including Pemberton and Japan’s Super Sonic festival. A world tour announcement will likely be coming with Viva La Vida’s release.
