Ryan Adams box set is a fantasy

Remember the Ryan Adams box set we’ve been waiting eagerly waiting for? Turns out, at least according to our friends over at The Rawking Refuses to Stop!, the prospects of its release are nothing more than a fantasy…

It’s been nine months since Ryan Adams put out a new album — an eternity in RA-Years. I checked in with his publicist this morning regarding the delayed release of the long-awaited box set, a collection that could include such fan-loved rarities as the Suicide Handbook and 48 Hours sessions in addition to newer material like the tracks the alt-country songwriter recorded for the Elizabethtown soundtrack. Unfortunately, the status of the set, which was initially announced for a fall 2007 release, is “mostly fantasy, I’m afraid.”

I guess his new blog is taking up quite a bit of time. Thankfully, Adams does make an appearance on the new ESOPUS CD.

In the meantime,

  1. I reckon it is more to do with contract/disagreement issues with Lost Highway

  2. Since Ryan Adams likes to imitate Neil Young I’m sure he’ll talk about releasing this boxset for the next 30 years like Young talked about releasing archieves pretty much since the early 80’s
