Led Zeppelin haven’t a clue

Okay, let’s start this off right. Led Zeppelin was a killer band. They’re legendary, they’re one of the best additions to the rock venue. However, lately they’re giving fans and the music industry a cardiac arrest. Today is just another heart stopper, thanks to the wonderful commentary from John Paul-Jones, who is now hinting at not just a tour, but a new studio album.

Speaking in the May 2008 issue of our sister title Uncut, the bassist said he was uncertain about the future of the band but refused to rule out heading into the studio to work on a new album with his bandmates.

Asked specifically about the possibility of a new album, he said, “I’m not sure. I’m not too certain about anything right at the moment. I’ve got no idea what’s going to happen. But I’d certainly like to play with Jimmy [Page] again.”

Then there’s Robert Plant, who is about as indecisive as an anorexic at the buffet line. He spoke recently to Uncut, regarding the band’s future in touring, “Hopefully, one day, we could do it again,” he said. “Our profit is — it’s metaphysical.” Of course, he’s still prepping a tour with Alison Krauss, which includes a stop at Bonnaroo, so anything right now is just hearsay.

But at this point, that’s what everything is really. It’s all up in the air. There are no confirmations of anything but speculation and the band is pretty much the culprit of it. Hey, I’m a man who loves mystery (take note), but this is getting borderline asinine, especially when headlines read, “ROBERT PLANT CONFIRMS ‘LED ZEPPELIN COULD PLAY AGAIN.” Oh did I mention that the Comeback DVD might be canned too?

As Lewis Black puts it, “Why open your fucking mouth?”
