U2 follow suit, sign with Live Nation
Concert promoters Live Nation are snagging artists left and right, not the small ones either. After reeling in Madonna for $120 million, the media dynasty is now responsible for Irish rockers, U2. The deal includes a twelve year home with Live Nation.
The contract, signed for an undisclosed fee, will cover the Irish rockers’ merchandising, digital and branding rights, with the band continuing to release records through Universal.
“We’ve been dating for over 20 years now,” singer Bono told BBC News. “It’s about time we tied the knot.”

This might give more reason for various CEO’s to scurry home with guns to their temples. If this trend continues, Capitol Records and other labels could look like this.
One would hope, right?
