Who is playing Glastonbury?

The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is widely known as one of the largest and best music festivals in the world. And while the official lineup for this year’s version of Glastonbury isn’t expected until June, there are a ton of confirmations and rumors currently floating around. In an attempt to inform our friends across the pond and make those in the U.S. even more jealous, here is a bit of a recap of the current goings on.

Based on the information from the official website, The Gorge and Glastonbury message board, below is a list of the names currently confirmed for this year’s festival.

Kings of Leon, Jay-Z, The Verve, Neil Diamond, The Futureheads, Kylie, Fatboy Slim, Amy Winehouse, Goldfrapp, Editors, Hot Chip, The Enemy, Proclaimers, Lenoard Cohen, Massive Attack, Elbow, Estelle, Kate Nash, Pete Doherty, Panic at the Disco, The Subways, Band Of Horses, The Fratellis, British Sea Power, Vampire Weekend, The Wombats, Jimmy Cliff, Prison Love, Cate Le Bon, Neon Neon, CSS, Duffy,  Gilbert O’Sullivan, Joan Armatrading, 4Fifteen, The Dub Pistols, Ta Mère, Danu Fox, Sons and Daughters, Holy Fuck, Red Route, Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs

Despite rumors, neither Radiohead, nor Muse are expected to appear at the festival, according to Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis.

Glastonbury 2008 takes place between June 27 and 29 in Pilton, England. Tickets are currently on sale via seetickets.com and they are going fast. Consequence of Sound will of course, post the official lineup when it is announced.

  1. Not the best Glastonbury lineup… But still good.

  2. True, but lets remember that there will probably be a few more big names included in the final lineup.

    So lets not judge too early.

  3. a bit disapointed with the current line up, I was expecting at least 1 more of the big bands, Arctic Monkeys/bloc party/Radiohead/oasis/killers/coldplay/interpol or even Arcade fire/The cribs/yeah yeah yeah’s could be a good addition.

    I hope the line up gets better, and to be honest is a bit sad

    Manu Chao is the latest confirmation. I don’t know if that helps, but he is a pretty big name, especially in Europe.

    And just FYI, Arcade Fire are not currently touring.
