Pete Doherty arrested!, still preps live album
Ex-Libertine, current Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was arrested yesterday and will apparently be spending the next 14 weeks behind bars…
Pete Doherty was jailed for 14 weeks yesterday after he admitted breaching a court order designed to cure his drug addiction. The Babyshambles frontman was expected to
wake up in a cell in Wormwood Scrubs prison this morning after admitting missing appointments with the probation service.
His lawyer said tests as part of the order showed Doherty had still been using class A drugs. It is the longest spell he has faced in jail since 2003, when he was convicted of burglary. The sentence means Doherty will miss out on performing at the Glastonbury festival in June.
Drowned in Sound reports that Doherty will appeal, but for the time being, fans with tickets to upcoming Babyshambles’ shows can seek refunds.
However, all this apparently didn’t stop Doherty and company from announcing the release of a new live album and DVD.
Oh What A Lovely Tour, due out June 2, will include a full 20-song live set. The DVD, which will feature a number of the band’s music videos, was directed by Giorgio Testi.
