Stone Temple Pilots announce tour, headline Summerfest

Hot off the release of their new website and a reunion performance (their first in nearly eight years) in Los Angeles last night, the Stone Temple Pilots have announced a 65-date summer tour and plans to begin recording the followup to 2001’s Shangri-La Dee Da.

The band performed a half-dozen hits during a 30-minute set, including opener “Big Empty” (see clip below), “Vasoline” and “Interstate Love Song”, all of which are taken from STP’s second album, 1994’s “Purple”…

“The story’s not finished,” singer Scott Weiland told The Associated Press. “There’s more to be revealed and more to be told.”

[Blabbermouth]

The tour will include appearances at this year’s Rock on the Range and Virgin Mobile Festival. It was also announced today that the band will headline a night at Summerfest 2008.

Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. officials are excited to announce the tenth performance slated for Summerfest 2008. Stone Temple Pilots will headline the Marcus Amphitheater on Friday, July 4 at 7:30 pm…

Tickets go on sale this Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m. and will be available for $55.00, $45.00, and $30.00…

A limited number of bar-coded wristbands for free, general admission lawn seats will be available the day of the concert for this show.

Tickets information is not yet available. STP are letting fans pick the setlist for each show.
