The Smoking Popes have plans for 2008
And it doesn’t involve more touring. No, the Popes will finally be following up their 1997 album, Destination Failure. Set for release this year, Stay Down will mark the first time in over a decade that the Chicago natives will have put together a release full of new material. Those still basking in the sounds of groovy, smarmy alternative-pop will have to smile at this piece of news.
Hey everybody!!
We just wanted to tell you we’re having a party at the metro on June 7th to celebrate the release of our new cd “Stay Down”!!
See you there..

After debuting much of the new material at Chicago’s own, Schubas, last month, the band has finally released four songs off the upcoming disc, available at their MySpace page. This should prove to be an exciting year for the band, who have been touring on and off with pretty much the same choice of songs for the past few years.
The Smoking Popes will unleash the album, songs, and probably more details come June 7th at The Metro.
