The Offspring confirm album, date

Last week, we reported that The Offspring will be taking its show out on the road and that the album could possibly be finished. Now it’s confirmed. In aoffspring1.jpg journal entry off the band’s official site, Dexter Holland confirmed the album title and release date for the upcoming eighth studio album, the band’s follow up to 2003’s Splinter.

After over a year of recording, I‘m happy to announce that we are finishing up our CD this week. We‘ve worked really hard on this and I think it‘s some of the best stuff we‘ve ever done.

Our album will be called ‘Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace‘ and will be released on June 17.

Our first single is called ‘Hammerhead‘. Listen for it on the radio starting in early May.

Maybe its the “Grace” or the lengthy title, but doesn’t it remind you of the Foo Fighters last album? Either way, fans should be excited for this one, which has been likened to the band’s earlier work, such as Ixnay on the Hombre and Smash. Here’s hoping “Hammerhead” isn’t another comedic punk song, in the fashion of “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy).” I would hope they’re a little more mature than that now.

We’ll keep you posted on that single.

  1. [...] ol’ punk/metal mix the band could incorporate so well. If the rest sound anything like the upcoming single (”Hammerhead”) they’ve been playing live, then this could be a great summer for follow up [...]
