Bonnaroo makes “big announcement”

Bonnaroo has finally announced its next round of highly hyped additions to this year’s lineup, including the replacement for the recently canceled Allman Brothers Band. Who would have thought Jack Johnson would somehow be involved?

The Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival is pleased to announce that Widespread Panic will now close the 2008 festival, headlining the main stage on Sunday evening, June 15.

Jack Johnson has chosen to join his friends Pearl Jam on the main stage Saturday night stepping into the slot vacated by the Allmans. Jack will perform beginning at sunset, to be followed by Pearl Jam’s closing main stage set.

We’re also excited to note the additions of Les Claypool, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, Superdrag, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Adele, Grand Ole Party, and The Postelles to this year’s festival line up.

Seems like more than a few people are disappointment with these additions. But then again, what would you expect when those Eric Clapton rumors were swirling?

The question everyone now seems to be asking is whether Jack Johnson will be cutting into Pearl Jam’s Saturday night set time…

Tickets for Bonnaroo are still currently on sale via the official website. And if you want to go the free route, there is still time to sign up for volunteering.

  1. Personally, I think Roo has a stronger lineup than Lolla. In terms of headliners, Lolla obviously wins, but Bonnaroo has a stronger middle bill in my opinion.

  2. cant forget Rothbury drew, and lolla isnt too bad, i actually wouldnt mind going, but odds are Waka is where ill make it. maybe bonnaroo will get it right next year when they see the let down they have provided this year.

  3. well Bonnaroo is falling apart really it seems like the best shows this year will be Sasquatch, Premberton and Coachella

  4. acid!. go to waka

  5. Superdrag is an amazing add. The rest, not so much.

  6. It’s hard to see how AC/Superfly could have handled the lineup worse this year. First the Zeppelin and Mars Volta fumbles. And now adding WSP and Claypool after alienating the fans that would have bought a ticket had those guys been on the bill to begin with. It just sucks.

Late night this year is going to be great. Too bad the What Stage is going to suck ass…

  7. so does that mean that Jack Johnson is playing at Bonnaroo twice?

    Christ. There’s no stopping him.

  8. If Superdrag and Les Claypool had been on the original lineup, I would probably have bought tickets already. But I waited, and I’m going to Lolla instead. I went to Bonnaroo last year, and it was easily the best time I’ve ever had at a festival. I was really wanting to go this year, but the lineup is a let down to me.

  9. what a total buzz kill

Coachella just showed up Bonnaroo in a big way

  10. from the bonnaroo message boards:
“I feel like I just got rick rolled”

  11. [...] will be closed out by the recently added Widespread Panic with Robert Plant & Allison Krauss, not Led Zeppelin, and Death Cab for Cutie [...]

  12. [...] Best Festival: Bonnaroo - Even after the most recent additions? [...]
