David Bowie has plans for 2008

bowie.jpgIt may not be Bowie making a come back or bringing the world anything new, innovational or surprising, but it is something any fan of the Long Time Legend can bring home and enjoy. As respectable as it is to see an old musician try to fit in with changing generations, I personally would much rather hear them at their best. And considering I believe the Ziggy Stardust days of Bowie to be the best, this live boot leg release from  the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 20th 1972, should be a real treat. When talking about the Album, Bowie had this to say…

“This would be around the tenth American show for us and you can hear that we are all pretty high on ourselves. We train wreck a couple of things, I miss some words and sometimes you wouldn’t know that pianist Mike Garson was onstage with us but overall I really treasure this bootleg. Mick Ronson is at his blistering best.”

Just incase of curiosity, Mike Garson is a famed pianist who brought ‘avante garde’ styles of jazz piano to the later Ziggy Stardust tour and more recently has worked with Nine Inch Nails and The Smashing Pumpkins. Mick Ronson played guitar with Bowie from 1970 to 1973; going solo in ‘74.

The album is set for release on June 30th 2008.
