Metallica to follow Reznor’s footsteps?
According to Kerrang! rumors are circulating that heavy metal masters Metallica may be flirting with the idea of posting their yet-to-bet-titled 9th album online, much like in
the same vein as Nine Inch Nails have with Ghosts I-IV:
“We’re looking at how we can embrace everything,” Ulrich told Rolling Stone. “We want to be as free players as possible. We’ve been observing Radiohead and Trent Reznor and in 27 years or however long it takes for the next record, we’ll be looking forward to everything in terms of possibilities with the internet.”
Given the band’s recent enthusiasm for the album, this comes as quite a shock for the band who about ten years ago spearheaded that silly “Napster” controversy. Opinions aside, the hype for the new album has been undeniably high, with an expected release for sometime in September, according to drummer Lars Ulrich.
Could this be the Metallica album that caps off where …And Justice For All ended in 1988? Wouldn’t that be fitting? Twenty years after the release of one of their most brutal albums, it all comes back around again. We shall see the results in the next three months.

Not really the same as what they are talking about but still really cool. Not really a pay what you want kinda thing just more of a give a away.
they pressed a few vinyls and sent them to people who agreed to put it up on the internet free. It was the only way you could get the album
Really pumpkins did a “pay what you want” thing?
Yes, I’m aware of these previous movements. The Smashing Pumpkins “did” it first, okay. Just read the articles.
how about the smashing pumpkins who did it over eight years ago
Yeah REznor did it first how about Radiohead. Or do you mean like how Reznor did it?
