Reading And Leeds add punk rock
In addition to Matt’s reporting on the 50+ artists added to the ranks of the Reading and Leeds festival, Kerrang! announced this morning a major addition of punk rock bands. Some of the bands included are Gallows, Alkaline Trio, Cancer Bats, Less Than Jake, Thrice and Pennywise.
When asked about the festival, Gallows guitarist Laurent Barnard replied:
“We played last year and it felt like the pinnacle of our career - playing Reading and playing a stage with so many good bands. To be asked back again to headline is amazing! I remember that last year there was a sound limit on the stage - but the crowd was louder than we were! It was the best feeling ever and was one of those moments where you realize that all the hassle of touring and stress is worth it!”
The festival is slated to run between August 22nd through the 24th.

The line-up looks amazing this year to be fair!
Reading/Leeds probably has the best punk rock lineup out of all the festivals, including the Bamboozle and the Warped Tour. I’m huge on the Loved Ones (great band!), Flogging Molly, H2O, Thrice, Alkaline Trio, Fucked Up, and Pennywise. I saw the Gaslight Anthem a couple of months ago and their most recent album has frequented my stereo ever since.
There is nothing like experiencing a great punk rock anthem with the crowd screaming along in unison.
“but the crowd was louder than we were!” Haha!
