Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival announces initial lineup

Fall may seem like the unofficial end to the summer festival season, but that doesn’t there aren’t any opportunities to still check out tons of great artists in one central location. You just have to look hard enough or of course, rely on Consequence of Sound to keep you updated…

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is an annual, free festival that features a wide array of performers from nearly every music genre. This year’s edition, set to take place between October 3 and 5 at Golden Gate Park in San Fransico, California, once again offers a quality lineup, headlined by by Robert Plant and Alison Krause.

More artists along with addition festival information will be revealed in the coming weeks. No need to worry about tickets though. As mentioned, the festival is free to the public…

  1. Oh man, the drive from San Jose is worth it.
    I don’t care.
    On the new updated lineup,
    Iron and Wine is playing:))

    ++Gogol Bordello is what I’m really waiting to see:D

  2. Yeah, I was wondering also who to contact for booking. We are a San Francisco based Cajun band. See us at youtube.com, search left coast special (with spaces) to see what we sound like, or come see us at The Green Earth Cafe, 1722 Taraval St in San Francisco. We’re working on a show on the 28th of September from 3:00-5:00pm.

    Thank you;

    Pat McEvoy

  3. Last year, this mad party was dialed back a bit after the wild 2006 event but it looks like Warren Hellman has dialed it back up again this year, with Robert Plant, a Grateful Dead offshoot, Elvis Costello and the usual suspects, the crowds will be enormous. Fun if you can get to see and hear these attractions for free.

  4. does anyone know who to contact for booking?or have any info on how to get on the bill?

  5. they updated the line-up again. this is going to be the best one yet. mark olson and gary louris were just added.
