Broken Social Scene Presents: Part II
The second installment in that series of albums designed to showcase the solo work of members from a certain enormously talented Canadian band has been announced. The “Broken Social Scene Presents” series will make its long-awaited return on June 22, via Arts & Crafts, with the release of BSS founder Brendan Canning’s new solo effort, Something for All of Us…
As was the case in part 1 in the series, Kevin Drew’s Spirit If…, there will be no absence of fellow Broken Social Scene on the album…
Recorded and produced in Toronto by Canning along with Ryan Kondrat and John La Magna, the album features an assortment of guest musicians. Naturally, fellow BSS band-mates [Kevin Drew, Justin Peroff, Andrew Whiteman, and Ohad Benchetrit] make up a large portion of the accompaniment, as well, contributions from Lisa Lobsinger (who was part of the 2005/2006 BSS touring lineup), Kevin Hearn (BNL, Lou Reed), Liz Powell (Land Of Talk) and Liam O’Neil (The Stills).
In support of the release, BSS have a series of tour dates scheduled in the coming summer months, which will include stops at Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo.
