Tom Waits doesn’t like scalpers
As if Tom Waits wasn’t cool enough already, the legendary musician and his record label, ANTI- Records, are now apparently doing everything in their power to make sure each and every person who purchases tickets for his upcoming tour will pay no more than face value.
“In keeping with Waits’ longtime desire to allow fans the best possible access to his shows, the Waits’ organization is again implementing an anti-scalping program to assure patrons that their tickets can only be purchased at face value (plus normal surcharges and handling fees). At the majority of shows on this tour, Ticketmaster is introducing their Paperless Ticket™ system. Prior to entering the venue, fans must simply provide their credit card which was used to purchase the tickets, along with a government issued ID. The fan’s accompanying guest must be present at that time. An attendant will swipe the credit card and provide a receipt for the transaction. The entire process is quick, secure and simple. Tickets will only be sold via the internet and by phone and are limited to two per person.”
Of course, you will still have to deal with those wonderful ticketmaster service fees, but hey, it’s better than nothing. And in case you were wondering, tickets for all shows will go on sale begining Friday, May 16 via ticketmaster.com.
In addition to this ticket information, Waits also has revealed a few more details pertaining to the upcoming tour. He will be performing with longtime musical ally Larry Taylor (bass), Omar Torrez (guitar), Patrick Warren (keyboards), Casey Waits (drums and percussion) and as yet named reed player; performing hollers, mambos and rhumbas.
European tour dates will be be coming in the near future…

What is you don’t get the tickets for the onsale? You’re just out of luck?
What if you buy tickets and your plans change? You can’t give them to a friend to use or sell them to someone who can go?
This sucks.
