Dave Grohl writes Metallica letter
As if Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl didn’t have enough “badass” medals pinned to his rock and roll uniform, he shall earn his “heavy letter writing” merit badge today. This morning, the former Nirvana drummer sent an open letter to heavy metal heavyweights Metallica in regards to their newest record, complete with a tongue-in-cheek jab at the drums:
“Hey, it’s Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I’m the guy that’s been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album ‘Kill ‘Em All’ from a mail order catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can’t remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I’ve been listening to your albums ever since (even ‘St Anger’!).
“I can’t wait to hear the new shit, and no matter what you guys do I’ll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I’m sure you’ll come out and blow everybody’s fuckin’ minds, because you’re fuckin’ METALLICA!
“Good luck. And don’t release it until it’s kick-ass.
“Yours, Dave Grohl.
“P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet?”
With the Metallica music machine generating waves of buzz louder than a tree full of jackhammers and with other musical giants speaking out to support the band, all of America’s hopes and dreams may be fulfilled in finally erasing the musical nadir of St. Anger. Only time will tell, so we’re just going to have to sit through Iron Man, Indy 4, Made Of Honor and The Dark Knight until the fall.

hey guys let’s be all brothers !! we love all Metallica !! not many people off all the world are like us !! rock fans !! they are fucking rappers or like in my country manelists !! but metallica will rule all my life and it will be nomber 1
Still… Dave needs to man up… he is the leader of ball trad-rock… we need someone who is frontman. When will he pull on the SG and just rock some shit and finally concrete his place.
We see this shit a lot. I see this in politics. Rock it but not too hard. We need fucken rock and in our faces. We need a change, a fucken revolution. Everyone is so afraid. Grohl still has the old school 90’s click on it, so fucken build on that shit, put some new tunes in peoples minds that move these kids to think or rock or anything… god please at least one of the above. Times are tough.
Metallica is too old to recognize the genius of their early days… Grohl is reminding them they can still woo some fans with some balls. Overdoing-it would look weak and contrived… like most of the their post-Black careers.
