Festival Outlook (Part XVIII)
For those who have recently joined us, you may not be too familiar with the individual posts we did that sought to take a look at some of the current news and rumors pertaining to some of the upcoming summer music festivals. However, thanks to our new Festival Outlook page, we generally don’t have a need for them. After all, you can get all the latest tidbits and updates for essential every festival.
But with the increasing influx of lineup announcements and rumors for some of the late summer festivals and since this week has been pretty slow on the news front, we figured there is no better time than now to provide a nice little update on some recent news.

The inaugural 80/35 festival, scheduled to take place between July 4 and 5 in Des Moines, Iowa, recently added several names to its initial lineup. Among the additions scheduled to perform include Andrew Bird and Black Francis.
The HARD Summer Festival, which will featuring a collection of some of indie’s biggest biggest hip-hop artists and DJs, will go down once again on July 19 in Los Angeles, California. N.E.R.D. are currently scheduled to headline, while MSTRKRFT and Spank Rock are some of the other notables on the lineup.
Aside from the current Prince and Rage Against the Machine rumors and cancellation of Ludacris, Bumbershoot, set to take place between August 30 and September 1 in Seattle, Washington, has graced fans with a new round of additions, which include Band of Horses and The Black Keys. Oh, and The All American Rejects and Paramore too…
The Pygmalion Music Festival returns again this year, this time between September 17 and 20 in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. The recently announced initial lineup for this year’s festivities is headlined by Yo Lo Tengo, Black Mountain, and Dan Deacon and also features Illinois natives Headlights and psychedelic rockers Dark Meat.
While details are still sketchy, it appears Street Scene 2008 will take place between September 19 and 21 in downtown San Diego, California. The only current confirmed name is Michael Franti & Spearhead while Cat Power is also rumored to perform. More should be revealed in the coming months…
The Detour Festival is another festival with a lot of current unknowns, but according to a few people who have emailed us, it looks like the Los Angeles, California event will go down on October 11 and could be headlined by the likes of Weezer, Robyn, and Jarvis Cocker.
That’s it for now. As always, keeping checking back to both Consequence of Sound and our outlook page for all the latest news and rumors.

Glad to see the Festival Outlook is back
yep, me too! I’ve likes alex’s short and brief descriptions. Just enought to entice to read more or forget about it. Thanks bud
Well done!
MSTRKRFT are huge. NERD and MSTRKRFT are co-headliners. I bet there will be more people there for mstrkrft than for Pharrell.
I do agree MSTRKRFT are great, but from at least what I can tell, N.E.R.D. are being billed as the headliner…
According to the Lineup video, There will be two stages, an indoor dance/DJ stage, and and in outdoor live stage.
My guess is N.E.R.D. will be headlining the live stage, and MSTRKRFT will be headlining the dance/DJ stage.
