Red Hot Chili Peppers have plans for September?

It has been quite a while since we have heard from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Since touring for nearly two years in support of 2006’s Stadium Arcadium, the band has been laying low, a hiatus of sorts.

However, based on several tidbits sprinkled throughout the internet, it now appears the break may be ending, and the California based band may be back as soon as September of this year.

In February, drummer Chad Smith confirmed in a interview with Artisan News that the band “get together sometime this year and make some more music, ” resulting in much speculation the band will begin recording their tenth studio album sooner rather than later.

Since then, we have yet to receive another concrete update from the band, but several recent item appearing on the internet seem to convey that the band may be back on the road very soon. The band have been invited to participate in the inaugural World Peace One live concert, set to take place in September of this year, and while nothing has been confirmed, it wouldn’t be at all shocking if the Chili Peppers chose to participate. After all, they’ve participated in these type of events before.

Finally, though it could simply be a misprint, the band is listed on Coast2CoastTickets.com’s website as scheduled to perform on September 6 and 7 at Toronto Centre Island in Toronto, Canada. Festival fans would know that this event is of course, the Toronto portion of this year’s Virgin Mobile Festival, which as of now, will be headlined by Oasis and Foo Fighters. Could something more be brewing or is it simply a mistake on the website’s part? Hmm…

That is all we have now, but as always, we’ll keep you updated…
