Rapper/movie star Common has dropped “Universal Mind Control,” the first single off his upcoming album, Invincible Summer, due out on June 3 via G.O.O.D. Music. The song, which features a guest spot by N.E.R.D.’s Pharrell Williams, offers a much different sound - something a lot of people seem to be loving…
We think, this joint is dope! It’s definitely different (esp to those who have only just got into Common recently with “Be” and “Finding Forever” etc). It kinda reminds us of something from his “Electric Circus” album, which most of the Hip Hop world hated, but we thought was pretty fly! Different…but fly nevertheless!

According to Common, much of Invincible Summer will be heavy in this new, fast-paced electro sound thanks to the return of Williams, Chad Hugo, and Mr. DJ as album producers, the first time the three have held down the duties since the aforementioned 2002 release of Electric Circus.

“Kanye was focusing on his ‘Glow in the Dark’ show, so he hasn’t been able to make it to the studio to weigh in,” Common says. “But it worked out well, organically. The Neptunes & Mr. DJ came up with a fresh sound for me.”
