Update: Monterey Music Summit Reschedules
It turns out the folks behind the second annual Monterey Music Summit have decided to reschedule the Monterey, California festival rather than cancel it.
The second annual progressive music and arts festival known as the Monterey Music Summit will be rescheduled from May 30-June 1, 2008 at Laguna Seca Raceway to an undisclosed location in Monterey County in October 2008.
Promoter Joe Fletcher made the difficult decision to postpone and relocate the Monterey Music Summit due to a combination of factors. Primarily, the transition from last October’s location at the Monterey County Fairgrounds to the Laguna Seca Recreation Area this May proved to be more difficult than anticipated.
After a successful launch of the inaugural event last October at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, the decision was made to find a new location that could accommodate patrons who desired camping accommodations. It was at this time that Laguna Seca was selected and confirmed for dates in May 2008. Unfortunately, several issues have emerged since attempting to produce the event at the new location that have resulted in the overall decision to postpone the event. Objections to the Festival line-up (which ultimately had to receive final approval from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors), heightened security demands from county officials, noise restrictions, production cost factors and overall minimal demand for camping are the major obstacles encountered to date.
