Coldplay do MTV, biggest band in world?
In case you live in a cave, which obviously I must be doing, you would know that Coldplay appeared at the 17th annual MTV Movie Awards to perform “Viva La Vida”, the second single off the band’s upcoming album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.
Maybe its just me, but between Chris Martin’s over the top singing and the band’s new iTunes commercial, particularly of late, Coldplay really is putting on their best U2 impression…
…which may in fact, be working. After all, Jay-Z considers Coldplay the “next in line for the biggest band in the world, period.”
Tickets to see the biggest band in the U.S. are still on sale.

Oasis were the band that turned indie into mainstream… and they have been around for 14 years i think coldplay are amazing and definelty rank beside oasis….
the indie bands today are what i dont concider indie…. i concidere them pop like mcfly,, cause none of them are rockstars they are fake bum boys…..
just because Jay-Z is a rapper doesnt mean he doesnt know music. He is a brilliant artist and if he has an opinion about music most people would listen whether he is right or wrong. As for this subject he is right.Coldplay is nodoubt next in line to claim the title “Biggest Band In The World”.
I was referring to the Big Wigs of MTV. And Jay-Z is not a rock artist, he is a rapper/hip hop performer, and I do not think that he and I have the same music tastes, therefore, I have decided that his opinion of “biggest band in the world” is not based in any sort of reality that rock fans resonate with, namely, myself. I think coldplay is ok, but they aren’t the biggest rock band in the world by a long shot.
i dont think coldplay ever really came across as an indie band so how can you say theyve sold out?…
and what does jay-z being rich (and i dont think hes a billionaire yet) have to do with his ability to say theyre the biggest band in the world?…
disclosure…i do like coldplay…but your argument sucks even if i didnt…
I’m sorry to say, but billionaires don’t get to tell me who the biggest band in the world is. If anything, this is probably a sign of the beginning of the end for Coldplay cause once you sell out bigtime, there’s no going back. I’ll gladly take Radiohead, PearlJam, Rancoteurs over this. What does Jiggaman know about Rock music anyways? Dangermouse mixed the Grey Album. ANd Jay-z stopped making credible rap years ago.
