The Streets preps one album, plans another
Mike Skinner, aka The Streets, is gearing up for the release of his fourth studio album, Everything Is Borrowed, set to drop in a “few months” via 679 Recordings. The English rapper has described the followup to 2006’s The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living, as full of “peaceful positive vibes that come after a disturbing work such as the last you heard,” a stark contrast to what is to come…
In addition to the details he revealed about his next album, Skinner also noted that he has already begun thinking about his fifth full-length, which as it turns out, will also be his last. “But the final Streets album (the fifth one) will be dark and futuristic. This could not be further from the album you’re about to hear, but it’s what is on my mind at the moment. I feel inspired by the synthesizer exhibition we just visited in Graz after the gig we just done did,” he went on to write in a recent Myspace posting.
So there you have it. Two more Streets albums and then…well, Skinner is done. While waiting, you’ll have a few opportunities to check out the hip-hop genius live.
