Funny or Die, cell phones at Bonnaroo
The 2008 edition of Bonnaroo is only one day away and many festival-goers are already making there way down to the farm. After all, the official Bonnaroo kick off party is later tonight! And yet even though this year’s schedule is pretty much set in stone, aside from the recent Kanye West late night switch and the still TBA superjam, the Manchester, Tennessee music festival is still throwing out new surprises.
In addition the already announced comedy lineup, which includes the likes of Chris Rock, Zach Galifianakis, and Louis C.K., it turns out that Will Ferrell/Adam McKay ran website FunnyorDie.com will also be on site to host two live shows.
“Funny or Die Presents: The Bonnaroo Soap Box,” will feature some of the biggest names in alternative comedy, up and coming comedians together with the Funny or Die team in a fast-paced show combining all kinds of comedy from stand-up, sketch, improvisation, and video…
Comedians confirmed to date for “Funny or Die Presents: The Bonnaroo Soap Box” include Zach Galifinakas, Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel of MTV’s “Human Giant,” and Janeane Garofalo. The show also features the Funny or Die team together with some surprise guests.
Not sure who will comprise the “Funny or Die” team, but we’re certianly interested to see who the surprise guests will be…
Also this week, Bonnaroo announced the launch of “Bonnaroo Mobile”. The described mobile social network and resource guide will apparently allow the 80,000+ people expected to attend this year’s fesitivies, “to sign up for alerts, access performance schedules for specific artists, as well as send their friends messages featuring real-time comments under Festival listings – all from their mobile phones.”
For example, say you want to text a “real-time review” about a certain headlining band…

All you would have to do is go access “Bonnaroo Mobile” through your cell phone’s mobile browser and BAM! Instant communication the entire music festival will be able to see!
