Sled Island reveals schedule, other shows
With a lineup that features the likes of Yo Lo Tento, Of Montreal, Tegan & Sara, Wire, and Broken Social Scene, this year’s edition of the Sled Island Music Festival, set to take place between June 25 and 28 in Calgary, promises not only one of the most indie friendly, but also one of the best quality musical events of the summer.
But with a hodgepodge-like lineup page, it is tough to tell who is playing and when. Thankfully, the folks behind Sled Island have revealed the schedule for the second annual version of the festival, helping clear things up a bit.
The main site of the festival will feature the following bands:
Friday, June 27th:
Yo La Tengo, Tegan & Sara, Broken Social Scene, The Broken West, Portastatic, The Wet Secrets, Ramblin’ Ambassadors, Spreepark, Elliot Brood, Chixdiggit, BeansSaturday, June 28th:
Of Montreal, Wire, Jose Gonzalez, The Secret Machines, Mogwai, Drive-By Truckers, The Dodos, The Gutter Twins, Jonathan Richman, Still Flyin’, Jain Vain & the Dark Matter, Hot Little Rocket
In addition to the actual festival portion of Sled Island, there will also be a number of club shows leading up to and during the weekend festivities. These shows are also listed on the recently released schedule and can be attended via individual ticket purchases or…
You can also get access to the various shows around town by buying a Full Festival Pass for $190. The Full Festival Pass guarantees you entry to the main site, and will get you in for free to all festival shows based on capacity. Based on capacity means that if the club only holds 100 people we can’t guarantee that everyone will a pass will get in. We will hold back at least 10% of every show for pass holders though, and there are many shows happening in larger venues where there will be plenty of room for pass holders. That said- it’s always a good to get to the venue a little early for shows you really want to see.
Tuesday kicks off with a official Sled Island Party, featuring a set by No Age.
Wednesday will see performances by Grizzly Bear and Wood Pigeon at Central United and Dan Deacon at the Wearhouse.
On Thursday, Okkervil River and Mother Mother are playing at Central United, while Yo Lo Tengo will be taking question and answers and delivering a special accoustic performance at Pumphouse.
And that’s just the begining. Check out the schedule for a full list of all the scheduled club shows.
In other words, Sled Island is going to be insanely awesome.
