Bonnaroo around the Web: Saturday

Bonnaroo around the Web: Saturday

Pearl Jam played three hours, Eddie Vedder joined Jack Johnson on stage, B.B. King was awarded the key to Manchester, Tennessee, and Kanye West pissed off a lot of people?

Saturday at Bonnaroo sure seemed eventful…

Cat Power played “Dreams”

Iron & Wine played “The Shepard’s Dog”

Mastodon played “Ghost Of Karilla”

Pearl Jam’s three-hour marathon (an hour over their listed play time) included “WMA” - played for the first time in 13 years. It seemed like they’d never leave as they kept coming back and the encores kept going on. No complaints though, of course!

Pearl Jam played “Courduroy”

From our front row vantage point, we notice people pointing to the above-stage VIP area (the spot from where we watched Jack Johnson). They were pointing to, sure enough, the Olsen twins. Yes, both versions of Michelle Tanner were at the ‘Roo celebrating their birthday over the weekend. We’re told they’re big fans of Pearl Jam, but no word on which one’s dating Eddie Vedder.

What a mistake that was. Kanje didn’t bother to start his set until 4:25 AM. Toward the end of the interminable wait flotsam and jetsum began raining on the stage to the chants of “Bullshit!, Bullshit!”. One carefully aimed projectile (a water bottle I suspect) made considerable contact with a video screen hanging toward the front of the cheesy plywood set and caused some damage (blue and red pixels).

  1. [...] Saturday [...]

  2. [...] As we mentioned, Kanye West didn’t hit the What Stage until 4:27 a.m. this morning - almost a hour and half later than what was his originally scheduled Bonnaroo set time. Of course, this comes after West succeeded last week in changing his performance time to ensure his “Glow in the Dark” tour would occur during complete darkness. [...]
